It’s Not So Hard

My brother Scott knows a guy who sells screenplays from a sidewalk table in midtown Manhattan. They’re authentic-looking scripts – the guy must run them off a copy machine, giving them bright color covers. Whenever Scott stops by, he invariably hears some hopeful screenwriters talking about their own projects, saying things like, “I got started on my screenplay last month – I wrote three pages.” or “I read in the paper that DreamWorks paid a writer a million dollars for his script. I’m not greedy – I’ll take a half million for mine.”
